Since a few weeks I had connection issues with my Logitech MX518 mouse. As soon as I started to move it, I heard the USB disconnecting sound. The cursor stopped for a millisecond or so and started to move again. But I never found out what the problem was.
I updated the mouse drivers and Logitech software, but I still got troubles. I cleaned the sensor, banged the mouse against the table, but still no improvement. Then I used some Google Fu and found this article: https://superuser.com/questions/53740/why-is-my-usb-mouse-disconnecting-and-reconnecting-randomly-and-often
Solution to the problem: I opened the Device Manager (I’m using Windows 10 on my laptop) and selected Human Interface Devices (HID). Here, for every device, I deselected the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” under Energy Management. That solved the problem, right now my trusty mouse is working fine and without any disturbing glitches or sounds!
